Getting There: 32,500 Delta Points ATL-ZUR each (Sign-up bonus or miles)

Lodging: Park Hyatt Zurich (1 Night Free Certificate from Hyatt Platinum Credit Card)

Things to do: We chose to start our journey off in Zurich, which is the largest city in Switzerland. Daniel flew on a separate flight so he could do first class and check out the new sky lounge in New York (Pilots love their airports) while poor little me flew economy, Ha-ha. I did volunteer to take the emergency exit for a little boy that was too young to sit there so that was snazzy…always do that since there is WAY MORE leg room! When we arrived that morning we simply met up at baggage claim and caught the SBB train to the Park Hyatt. (way cheaper than a taxi) We then grabbed some much-needed coffee (complimentary from Hyatt), got a full itinerary of sites to see from the very helpful concierge and set out to see the city!

The easiest option to see the city quickly was purchasing two tickets for the boat tour (1.5 hour), which takes you around to different stops along Lake Zurich. You could get food/drinks as needed on the boat. We were in and out of sleep for a lot of the boat ride, could be because of jetlag or because the views were so dreamy! We got off the boat on one of the last stops and grabbed some Margherita Pizza and walked along the park back to the Old Town in Zurich. We enjoyed seeing the old churches / buildings, looking in various shops (most of which were way out of our price range) and people watching! If you’re on budget and looking for a cute dress Zara is the place to go though!

We went back to the Hotel to shower and rest a bit to try to ease our jetlag before heading out to dinner. When we were ready we made our way back through the Old Town and stopped for dinner at The Butcher and had some delicious local Swiss hamburgers! The food was great and the atmosphere was incredible, whether your sitting inside surrounded by hanging lanterns or outside on the adorable dog-friendly patio, you’ll be pleased. (It was also reasonably priced for the city) On the way back to the hotel we stopped at local grocery store called the COOP, which you’ll find in every city in Switzerland. We bought some cheap wine and cheese and sat with some very friendly swans as we watched the sunset over Lake Zurich. The Hyatt had strawberries and champagne waiting for us back in our room and we made sure to use the huge jetted tub and all the free soaps before the night was done.
