Trotti Bikes in Grindelwald

We woke up the next morning and had our typical Swiss breakfast complementary of our amazing lodge it consisted of .. A pretzel bun , thick cut bacon, 5 assorted Swiss cheeses and a yogurt parfait made from the cows just outside the lodge! I would have gained probably 10 lbs for the 4 days we spent here alon had we not been hiking so much!

We headed to Grindewald by train quickly after, we stopped and grabbed a Tolberone and salami sandwhiches so that we could have a picnic once we reached the top of our hike called Lake Bachalpsee - the views riding up to the starting point were unreal. The hike from the drop-off point had over 74 different flowers on it all labeled so that was quite scenic but the actual spot at the lake was literally breathtaking (could also be because of the temperature change and the fact that I mistakenly wore shorts though haha). The hike down was enjoyable for the first six miles but once the toe strap on my Chacos started amputating my toe it was time to give up.

We ran to a bus stop and asked to get on but it was 43 USD, so we reluctantly said we would keep walking.. Best decision we've ever made why?!?! Because once we arrive in Bort we discovered Trotti bikes! These were over sized scooters with bike tires on them and they took us gliding down the rest of the trails with the greatest of ease! We then train-ed it back home while snacking on some kiwi almond cheese and I don't remeber anything else from that day because I'm pretty sure we passed out after watching the awesome sunset (see timelapse below). All in all the hike from Grindelwald to Lake Bachalpsee and back averaged about 15 miles and took an entire day but was completely worth it. Just make sure you bring a jacket and some comfy shoes!
